A young mother of 19 yrs & A single mother of 18 yrs


Leah Cherehani   -Nyasonge  village –Busoka 19 years

Leah is a young mother of 19 years, she graduated std seven in 2009 and she got married 2010 when she was a very young girl of 15 years old  by then, and the husband was 22 years much older than Leah but young to have the responsibility of taking care of  the family let alone   getting  married.

 Leah is a second born out of eight children of the family and her parents divorced,  their father remarried so the step mother took care of the children including Leah.

Leah a mother of two got her first born child when she was 16 years old soon after getting married the first born in  2011 and the second born was born  in Dec 2013, she engaged in sexual intercourse since she was  15 years old and was not married and didn’t use any family planning methods because she never had information on FP even when she  got married, She joined KIWOHEDE 2013 September   and started to gain trainings on SRH issues like HIV/AIDS, Maternal and child health care, family planning, entrepreneurship, life skills and adolescent and its effects.

She admits that the trainings  have empowered her in terms of self awareness, decision making   and  she is now aware of  the importance of family planning  and she was able to choose the family planning method which suits her and which she is comfortable with and she prefered   Implant method  was placed into her she says   , family planning has enabled her  to space , she is very confident  that she will have the next baby when she is ready and she has now ability to   discuss with her partner about the issues of family planning and child spacing, she admits now that she enjoys her freedom for sex,and other physical activities including attending network meetings, community outreach and sharing with others information on FP

She is looking forward to be assisted by KIWOHEDE on  vocational training and she prefers tailoring she wants to become a designer so she can open her own tailoring workshop to earn her living.
