Album:           COL (Girls Inspire)

Description: ABOUT GIRLS Inspire GIRLS Inspire is a project sponsored by Commonwealth of Learning (COL), funded by the Government of Canada through the Global Affairs Canada office and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia, with the aim to end the cycle of child, early and forced marriage and to address the barriers that prevent women and girls’ economic participation. The project focuses on Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Mozambique and Tanzania. KIWOHEDE: Description Kiota Women Health and Development (KIWOHEDE) is an advocacy and action oriented organization registered in Tanzania in 1999 with the aim of supporting socioeconomic empowerment of children, women and youth, particularly against the worst forms of abuse, including gender violence and exploitation. Over a decade, KIWOHEDE has served a large number of young women, children and youth communities. The organization serves approximately 5,000 youth and young women annually from 21 districts in seven regions of Tanzania main land. The organization works mainly with various Tanzania ministries like Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Ministry of Information, Culture, Art and Sports, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Constitution and Legal Affairs. KIWOHEDE have support from different development partners including UNFPA, AMREF, SAVE THE CHILDREN, COL , JhPiego, ECPAT, Teres de Homes . Networks are Tanzania Child Right Forum (TCRF), ECPAT, GAAWT, and KIWOHEDE networks with other local CSOs on the ground by addressing and advocating for boys and girls, young women and men needs and rights, including their education, health and rights. In addition, KIWOHEDE has been delivering youth development and leadership programmes by empowering and mentoring youth for education, skills development and sexual education. The organization understands that young women and men are key change agents in Tanzania as the rest of the world, hence mobilizing and empowering young people to be able to make informed decisions about their lives is very crucial.
